Travel Tips before you begin your journey

Have you ever thought about planning your trip? Is it something you’ve dreamt of doing but haven’t taken it to the next level?

There are many ways to explore Australia in your caravan. You can take short trips in different directions or you can take part in events around Australia.

As we know, Australia is a vast country and it's a country that is far and wide. When you’re considering to take a big road trip, you will more than likely compromise where possible.

But, before thinking about your trip, a good place to start is to gather inspiration. You can do this by going to various camping shows to explore what is on offer, get expert advice and gather a whole list of things to consider.

Let’s create travel guide before you begin your journey into the outback:

Where do you want to go?

This is the number 1 question. It’s also one that you need to consider when thinking about the length of time you want to travel, what destinations do you want to travel to and what routes will you take e.g. main routes or will some off-roading be involved. If you intend to go off-road, you need to ensure that your rig complies. This weight will be calculated on the weight of your rig, its contents, and the people travelling.

Who will be with travelling with you?

Are you planning to go alone, with your partner or as a whole family? If you intend to take the family, consider having a larger tow vehicle.

How long will be travelling?

What is your intention? Will you be taking a big road trip or are you more than likely to take short trips around the country. Are you going for quite some time? These are questions to ask yourself.

What’s your budget?

Think about what your budget is. If you’re going with family, then think about what essentials you need. What can you do to conserve or make foods that is quick and easy to prepare. It's important to consider these factors when reviewing what your daily, weekly or monthly spend will be.

Now that you have considered some basic information when it comes to your travel guide here is a list of pointers you should consider before you take your next caravan holiday:

1. When it comes to BBQing in caravan parks, use baking paper on the BBQ plate. This ensures that you don’t make a mess of the plate and all you need to do is fold it up and throw it in the bin.

2. Make sure you have a fire extinguisher on board.

3. Pack some blocks of wood. This helps should the caravan’s ground site be uneven.

4. Don’t you hate when you lose the plug to the caravan sink? To solve this attach a small chain from the plug to the sink.

5. Grab a few jerry cans to keep an extra supply of petrol that is sealed and contained.

Once you have thought about the travel guide outlined and considered the pointers above, you can now start checking out these great road trip blogs for inspiration, great routes, where to set up camps or what sites are a must see.
