Caravan and Camping Tips
If you’re going down to the Kimberly and Pilbara regions, you will know that this region with its wide open spaces are warmer, which of course, is the ideal destination when caravanning or camping.
However when it comes to towing your caravan, some roads are not suitable as there are imposed camping restrictions in various areas. Before you start venturing off, it's best to contact your local visitor centres for further details on where you can and can't travel, as it's a region that is quite remote. Always do your research beforehand.
When travelling to Australia’s Northern region, it’s a good idea to follow some simple health and safety tips that will get you started.

Be absolutely prepared before travelling
It’s imperative that you check your car and caravan, making sure that everything is in working order before you set out on your trip.

The Essentials
Get the essentials on board like plenty of food and water, a comprehensive tool kit and a first aid kit, you need to use this at any given time. Having extra tyres packed away is also a good idea. You don’t want to be left stranded in a remote area.

Animals
It’s always a good idea to ensure that you drive more slower than usual as stray animals tend to come out especially around dawn and dusk.

Fatigue on the road
If you happen to feel tired or fatigue, pull over and take a break. Don’t drive when you’re tired. These are just some of the symptoms when driving with fatigue.
• Can’t focus or attention is not as sharp
• Poor judgement. Your reaction is much slower
• Yawning consistently, strugging to keep your eyes open
• Going in and out of lanes
• Not remembering the last few minutes

Conditions on the road
Conditions on the road can be quite poor so slow down during dusty conditions and always stay on your left. Do not overtake.

Designated areas
Make sure that you camp in designated areas only.
