Grand Pacific Drive
The 140-kilometre Grand Pacific Drive is without a doubt one of the most jaw-dropping coastal drives in Australia. Kicking off 45 minutes south of Sydney, your trip starts at the stunning Royal National Park (AKA the Nasho), where you can do a bit of whale watching from Garie Beach. Make your way through Wollongong and into Shellharbour for some snorkelling or scuba diving at the aquatic reserve.
A skip and a hop down the coast will bring you to the town of Kiama, a charming location with lots to see and do. Head to the famous Blowhole, do an outing to the Minnamurra Rainforest or spend an arvo at the Jamberoo Action Park.
A little further inland is the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk – this one’s sure to get your blood pumping. This award-winning walk through the trees is guaranteed to be a highlight, you will find the 360-degree views of the surroundings to be extremely rewarding if you’re willing to brave the heights.
Take the time to see three majestic waterfalls: Carrington, Belmore and Fitzroy, each one as stunning as the last. Further south, is the magnificent marine park in Jervis Bay where you’re likely to run in to a few dolphins and whales, depending on the time of year.
