Dave Benson began his journey into the recreational vehicle industry as a detailer in 1983 before moving up into sales. After a decade in the industry, Dave and his wife started their own business in 1994 – officially opening Dave Benson Caravans.

In 2007, Dave and his family sold the business to The Smith Motor Group, a dynamic group of over 20 automotive and related companies which sells more than 4,000 new and used vehicles per year.

In 2013 Dave Benson returned to run the dealership, which coincided with a move to a new 10,000-m² building – the largest undercover RV showroom in Australia – that also houses an 8-bay service department with a fully equipped workshop for handling, pre-deliveries, service, repairs and warranties.

Since Dave’s return there has been a huge investment in the business to build on their 14 National Dealership Awards for excellence. Initiatives include:
