George, what’s your role at Lotus Caravans?
I’m the Founder, Owner and Director of the business, so my role is really to oversee the direction of the company and the brand to make sure that we continue to raise the bar. We want Lotus Caravans to retain its place at the pinnacle of the industry and that means that we need to continue to get better all the time.
What makes Lotus Caravans so different from the competition?
I believe in Lotus Caravans completely.
I started this brand in 2004 and have grown it to be one of the very best brands in the market. I have total belief that the brand has everything it needs to continue to hold its place at the pinnacle of the industry.
What we are doing in terms of design, and that’s both from an aesthetic perspective and from the perspective of performance, is really second-to-none. We work with the best suppliers, and we work hard to ensure the highest quality standards.
Why should Australians support Australian-made caravans over imported brands?
Australian-made caravans really are superior to caravans from overseas.
In terms of who’s leading the world in the caravan space, I really believe that Australia is right up there at the top. Not only do we have very high manufacturing and design standards in this country, but the conditions that the caravans need to withstand and thrive in mean that we really can’t produce a sub-standard product or we’ll be found out.
Times are getting tougher and some people are choosing to manufacture some or all of their caravans offshore for financial reasons – but we will never do that.

Jamie, can you explain the importance of your role at Lotus Caravans?
As the QC Manager, I make sure that there are no issues or damage internally with any of our caravans before they are delivered to their new owners. If there are any things that need attention, I’ll make the right people aware so that everything is good to go once the caravan reaches the end of the production line.
Why do you think Australian-made vans are superior?

All of the caravan manufacturing here contributes to our economy, which is important.
When you compare Australian conditions to other countries, our conditions are often a lot harsher than in different parts of the world. Caravans that are made here are designed for those conditions, so are generally of a better standard.
What makes you so passionate about the Lotus Caravans brand?
I believe in Lotus Caravans because it’s a well-known and well-regarded brand that’s been around for many years. The caravans are designed to our high standards and also to each of our customer’s high standards.
It’s a strong brand; it’s a tough and well-presented brand, so it really does stand out from the rest.
